If you're in to movies just off the beaten path, this quirky romantic-comedy is for you. Before Storage Wars was even a household name, this movie showed the world what storage auctions were all about. The soundtrack is also both original and amazing. Definitely worth checking out.

A must see if you like romantic comedies
A very entertaining film with a moral to the story - great performances by independent actors. Excellent story writing, directing, photography and all original music.

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World

Outstanding take on "the end of the world"
Earlier this year there was "Melancholia", the ambitious and at times entertaining but also pretentious take on "the end of the world" as envisioned by director Lars von Trier, and now we get a completely different perspective on the very same topic, as written and directed by Lorene Scafaria.

"Seeking a Friend for the End of the World" (95 min.) starts off brilliantily. In the first minute of the movie we see Dodge (played by Steve Carell) and his wife sitting in the car, listening to the radio announcement that asteroid 'Matilda' cannot be stopped and will hit earth in 3 weeks, ending life as we know it. Dodge's wife looks at him, and then leaves the car, literally running away from him. What a beginning! Dodge eventually meets Penny (played by Kiera Knightley), and regardless of their age difference, they strike a friendship. Dodge and Penny hit the road, among others to look up Dodge's HS sweetheart and to find a plane for penny so she can rejoin her family in England...

Smart indie film masquerading as a mindless comedy
The trend for today's movies is to reveal the entire plot from start to finish including all the best lines compressed into a 2 minute 30 second trailer. The trailer for this film is awesome - fast paced, great music track (we're on a road to nowhere), and really funny. Well all of that stuff happens in about the first 20 minutes of the film. Then this focus/Indian paintbrush film settles into an examination of two questions: What if you found out you had 21 days to live? Along with the rest of humankind?

The basic plot of this movie is: man with long history of woman problems gives up on romance after his wife leaves him and he finds out the world is coming to an end, people try unsuccessfully to set him up, he meets a much younger female neighbor who has a sleep disorder and awful judgment in men, they pick up a dog and go on a road trip each on a quest for that one last thing they want to do in this life. And they get to really know each other along the way...

A Great Introduction to Existentialism
As soon as I saw the title for this movie, I knew it was going to be a great film. It's really an exploration of Existentialism. Whether we die from a meteor crashing into the Earth or we live out our lives in peace and good health - we all must eventually die. So this film is really the sped-up version of the important responsible decisions and acts of genuine authenticity that we have to face in our lives.

There's two things you'll find interesting in this film. One is how others around the central characters deal with their imminent demise. There's nihilistic hedonism. There's people who simply cannot process what's happening and just carry on with their now meaningless lives (that is, acting in "bad faith"). There's the anti-humanist, devout believer who's content in their prison cell - satisfied that the world is finally coming to an end. There's people who commit shocking suicides, and those that hire someone else to put them out of their misery. It's not...

Everything we hear in the news today is so depressing and real, Ken Davis makes us laugh and practice our Christian walk . Things are still real but with God in Control , we can trust Him to take care of things and we won't feel so burdened.

Loved it !

Ken Davis FULLY ALIVE Comedy Concert
I heard Ken Davis on the radio. I laughed so much in just a few minutes that I had to find out more about this man. They said "That was Ken Davis from his Album Fully Alive" a comedy concert. I searched Amazon.com for the album and was delighted to find it and others. I ordered this album and would recommend it to all. Ken is a spiritual man and is so entertaining and hilarous with his comedic talent. He is different indeed. Will be ordering more albums by Ken Davis. Have shared it with friends and they have enjoyed watching Ken in this video also.

Equilibrium / Renaissance Blu-ray & DVD Combo

Echo Bridge fixes past errors, creates new ones with this double feature
Here's the rundown on this disc:

Single layer BD25 Blu-ray disc. Both films are on the same disc. Upon disc startup, a screen with silhouettes featuring the characters from each film lets you decide what film to watch. The menus for each film contain three choices: a play option, a chapter search, and the ability to switch films back and forth.

Video: Both films are presented in 1080p using the AVC MPEG-4 encode in their proper 2.35:1 aspect ratios.
Audio: Both films feature lossy English Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks. Renaissance does not include its native French track, only the Miramax dub featuring Daniel Craig. There are no subtitle options or other tracks.

Just what I was looking for
I had been looking to get the Blueray version of Equilibrium for some time. I love this movie even though the critics didn't. I'm not going to critique the movie as I personally would give it 4.5 stars out of 5. But for someone looking for the Blueray verison of this movie, this is the ONLY version you should buy. The stand alone USA version Blueray DOES NOT have 5.1 DTS surround audio. It only has 2.0 audio. Seems most of the USA releases in Blueray of Equilibrium is worthless.

Granted this version is still not in the proper aspect ratio of 2.35, but it is the best USA release you can get of this movie. The movie has a 1.78 aspect ratio, but is in DTS 5.1 surround. Until Echo Bridge releases this movie in the proper aspect ratio, this is the best version of the movie you can get, hands down!!

Two Underrated Films
Love the action sequences on Equilibrium, for sure the Wachowski brothers would have seen this film and took reference of those scenes and mixed it with Hongkong action cinematics then applied it on The Matrix. A very good film with a nice idea behind it.

I have Renaissance on DVD which I think is one of the best underrated CGI animated film out there. So having it now on Blu Ray is just a bonus. Because this animated feature is done in black and white it's very clear people won't be able to tell any difference in picture resolution between the DVD against Blu Ray.

Rosemary's Baby (The Criterion Collection) [Blu-ray]

At Last! Thank You, Criterion!
Roman Polanski's 1968 film version of Ira Levin's bestseller is one of the finest horror films ever made. Polanski adapted Levin's terrifying novel of ancient evil in a modern setting with every thrill intact. He filmed on location in NYC, and he somehow managed to convey a sense of claustrophobia and quiet panic on busy streets and sidewalks. To create suspense is very difficult; to sustain that suspense for 2 hours and 16 minutes is all but impossible. But he did it, with the help of excellent photography and production design, a wonderfully creepy musical score, and a terrific cast. Mia Farrow is simply magnificent as Rosemary, and she's matched by John Cassavetes, Sidney Blackmer, Maurice Evans, Oscar-winner Ruth Gordon, and an A-list of Broadway veterans. From start to finish, it is a perfect film.

Like so many other great movies, ROSEMARY'S BABY was suffering the ravages of time, and earlier VHS and DVD releases prove it. The print was fuzzy, the colors were faded,...

All Of Them Witches!
Rosemary's Baby is my favorite horror film of all time. Its got it all: a genius director, marvelous actors, a haunting tale, spooky neighbors, dastardly witches, and, of course, Satan. The film revolves around a young woman named Rosemary Woodhouse. Rosemary and her husband are expecting a child. But Rosemary doesn't look so good. Rosemary is starting to believe that she has been impregnated by evil itself, and everyone she knows might be in on it. As a thriller it works on a level Hitchcock only hinted at. Its a film that surpasses masterpiece and classic, and rests snug atop the terrain of legend.

It was once a venial sin to watch this film, condemned by the Catholic Church and the Legion Of Decency, now you can own it in glorious High-Definition, with a genial satisfaction only Criterion could bestow.

Pray for Rosemary's Baby.
Traditionally, this has been my favorite movie and probably holds that position for the longest amount of time. Over the years, other films have come and gone and even some of Polanski's other films have stolen the top spot. I admire his entire body of work, but after viewing the BD version of this film there is no doubt that once again Rosemary's Baby is definitely my favorite Polanski film.

The BD quality of this disc manages to still retain the gritty look of the original film print while delivering a significant improvement from previous DVD transfers. The problem with many BDs these days is that some of the essence is lost. It all looks digital now. Everything is too sharp, too crisp, too "perfect" but with this transfer, you can still see film grain, slight imperfections in sharpness that give a resonating feeling of uneasiness and perhaps a vintage sort of rustic quality. Uplifting!
Joe starts out on a journey across america with just a cell phone and a camera man, and in the process meets with charicters both quirky and generous.

In a time where some people are begining to feel that life has gone sour, Joe, through his travels shows that the generousity of the human spirit is alive and well in america.

A feel good movie well worth a view.

Better Than "On The Road"
I'll grant that the setup can be a bit on the manipulative side - having a cameraman with you makes it much more likely that strangers will allow you into their vehicles for a 'ride share'. This is but a minor complaint. The genuineness of people along the way, reminded me of the best parts of the people who inhabit the Pacific Northwest, both my birth city of Seattle and Portland. People seem sincerely game for the experience and the movie will leave you in tears on more than a few occasions, whether it be the cancer stricken actress Mr. Garner helps, or his experiences witnessing Katrina up close (and the efforts to rebuild it), but mostly the final scenes when he returns home, richer for the 30 day experience. Highly recommend this.

Uplifting!! Definitely a must see
This documentary is a great way to be reminded of the good that is still in the world. There is so much sadness that we hear about every day, and it's rare to hear about the good that people do, so this was very inspirational to watch. I definitely recommend checking it out!

Modern Family: Cast & Creators Live at PALEYFEST

Modern Family PaleyFest
Really enjoyed this episode of Paleyfest, and I loved that the child actors were included. That being said, there were almost too many people being interviewed for such a short session. Too bad they couldn't have had not only a longer session, but maybe have started with just the adults and had the kids come out a little later.
Best part was we watched it as a perk from our Amazon Prime membership!

Was not what I expected at all. I loved to see the interaction between the entire cast as a whole.

Streets of San Francisco: The Complete Fifth Season

They don't make them like this anymore
If you want to enjoy tv from the past, I suggest you try Streets. The plots are easy to follow and the Stone/Keller team really makes the show. Pair this with the talented guest stars, and you will get many hours of enjoyment out of each set. I am also interested to see the Keller replacement in this season. Looking for a gift for that person who has everything? I'll bet they don't have this. Maybe a parent, sibling, or friend who grew up during the 70's.

Streets of San Francisco. The complete fifth season
Great show. I miss Michael Douglas leaving the show. I watch a couple episodes everyday. Karl Malden iwas a terrific actor as the officer in charge
