Mr. Lucky: The Complete Series

Another Great 50's Series
I recently ordered this set from Barnes & Noble. As you know, some of Timeless
Media Group's series, have been less than good. This one however, makes it.
The picture quality is very good, and the audio is even better. The only reason
I didn't give it a better grade is because some of the episodes are a little
darker than others. But the picture is crisp, no jumps, no dirt. A worthwhile
purchase.

A GREAT AND UNDERRATED SERIES
It is about time this excellent series was finally released on DVD. What a gem! Now, I remember this series growing up, but when it aired, I was only 10 years old. I always enjoyed the action (always a fist fight), and some of the more subtle things might have gone over my head. But, seeing it again made me realize that this show more then stands the test of time. The characters are timeless and really do stand up. Many posthumous kudos to John Vivyan and Ross Martin as Lucky and Andamo and to creator Blake Edwards. In fact, in my opinion, much better then PETER GUNN and I think that series is still good and was also created by the talented Mr. Edwards. MR LUCKY is better overall. You gotta LOVE the cars alone !!! Another great thing is that each episode is a tight half hour episode telling the story and accenting it with action at the end. I've heard some say that the plots were a little shopworn, but I disagree. It was just the nature of the character of Mr Lucky to have friends...

PICTURE QUALITY IS DREADFUL
Was really looking forward to this, but the result is deeply disappointing. The picture quality is dark and washed out, while the sound quality is often warped and distorted. Sad.

The Forgiveness of Blood (Criterion Collection)

Fantastic performances and great direction and cinematography
From the first lingering shot of the idyllic Albanian landscape, with majestic mountains in the background and windswept fields in the foreground, director Joshua Marston immerses the viewer in a powerful fictional tale about a very real issue -- the impact on the families who end up inheriting the "sins of the fathers" from violent blood feuds in one of the poorest European countries.

The beginning of the story quickly sets up the jarring contradictions faced by contemporary Albanians -- horse-drawn carriages alongside motorized vehicles, livestock on the soccer fields, adults and elders clinging to ancient oral traditions while the younger generation is wrapped up in videogames, television, Internet-enabled computers, and handheld mobile devices.

The greatest service Marston does is to shed light on this paradox as the Old clashes with the New, placing the seemingly unfathomable tradition of regulated blood feuds in human context. We see it played out to...

Our Story Too
I ordered this film to try to understand more about the cultural background of a story from my own family lore. My grandmother told the story of "Zio Francesco" who was a shepherd in Calabria in the previous century. The local bandits (now they would be called organized crime) would come periodically to take one or two of his flock, but he was a poor man and the result was real hardship. Finally he informed the carabinieri (local police) where they could find the bandits. They escaped, and the man knew that he could no longer leave the house without being killed. So, each day, he would send his small son out with the sheep. One day there was a thick fog, and the boy was afraid, so the man went out hoping to be veiled by the fog. But the bandits caught him and burned him alive.
Albania is the only country that codified in writing the ancient vendetta law, called the Kanon, but it held the force of custom through wide swaths of the Mediterranean. Before Albania was Communist,...

Blood Feud
The concept of blood feuds between families evolving from incidences that in most societies would be handled by an impartial legal system is instead in many parts of the world handled by informal and traditional reparations ranging from money to another life to be taken. Such is the case in Albania, long known as the North Korea of Europe, where some families still utilize a Kanun of traditional oral laws to resolve disputes and save face (honor). That repute is rapidly changing as new generations embrace a more open and communicative society - yet, resistance, as to be expected, still exists from the elders. Thus is our story.

The naturalistic acting which far exceeds what trained and experienced actors would have produced greatly enhances the believability of the story. That, coupled with fine cinematography and research, results in an engaging film experience.

Avatar (Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray/ DVD Combo Pack)

Storyline differences between Extended Collector's Edition and Theatrical Release
I'm primarily interested in the storyline differences between special sets and their theatrical counterparts, so here are the differences between the two (NOTE: SPOILERS FOLLOW).

The extended collector's edition runs 16 minutes 28 seconds longer than the theatrical cut, and listed below are the major differences.

1) The opening scene is different, and starts with Jake in a wheelchair on Earth, in a Blade Runner-esque Earth city. The scene moves to scenes of Jake in his apartment, then taking liquid shots in a bar. Jake's narration of "I told myself I can pass any test a man can pass" and "They can fix the spinal if you got the money. But not on vet benefits, not in this economy" are inserted during this new opening scene.

Jake beats up a bar patron who is mistreating a woman, and then Jake and wheelchair are unceremoniously thrown outside by bouncers into an alley. While in the alley, Jake meets the two RDA representatives who bring him news of his...

Great Transfer to Blu-Ray
I got this as soon as I found it available on the net. It will not be available commercially for some time and that, of course, means the price is WAY to high for most viewers. I was willing to be taken for a ride but if you do not just have to have it now I would recommend waiting until it is available everywhere.
The video quality is fantastic. I have a Samsung 40" 3D setup and the movie was just beautiful to watch. Not quite the same as IMAX but very close (size of screen being the only difference that I could see). The 3D is, to my eyes, exactly as good as the IMAX on-screen version. I am a huge fan of the movie but believe me I would tell you if the video quality was not great.
I would not hesitate to do the purchase again (even considering the huge rip-off in price at this time) but advise others to consider if you really have to have it right now or can wait awhile.
Great movie, almost unbelievable video transfer quality, and a price that is just not right...

Don't let the one star reviews throw you off
There are many low score reviews purely based on the fact there was a release of this movie earlier this year and now the extended version comes out feels like a marketing game. When the first release happened it was known an extended version was coming, but some people just had to have it now. I just watched it on Netflix and waited for the extended version. I agree if you bought the first release version you have little real reason to buy the extended version, unless you love this movie and want the bonus features.

Some of the other low scores talk about the 3D version coming, but that is weak reason for most people because most do not own and will not own a 3D TV set. If you do your research on 3D TVs you will find they clunky and costly. Unless you are among the few who have a 3D TV, then there is no reason to wait to buy this release of Avatar if you enjoyed the movie.

For the few who have never seen the movie, the key factors to consider is if you are a...

Reel Legacy

Judge Whitaker's legacy
This is a part of my father's life that I really didn't know well. While he was making motion pictures at Brigham Young University I was "saving the world" in Korea. It was a highlight for us, and I purchased copies for my children. Their grandfather was a remarkable person.

A Reel Legacy - Story of the Whitaker Brothers and BYU Movies
It took a long time for someone to tell the full story of the beginning of motion picture making at BYU. As an actor, who was in one of the first full length movies made by director Wetzel (Judge) Whitaker and his scriptwriting younger brother Scottie, I had an opportunity to see up close their movie making skills and abilities. All of these are ably represented in this film which utilizes clips from many early LDS films and as described by many of the best LDS film makers of today who share their knowledge and the legacy of the Whitaker Brothers, who left Walt Disney to create at Brigham Young University a whole new film genre...LDS movies: Movies that are especially attractive to members and friends of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Between them they had the perfect set of talents to do what LDS Church President David O. McKay and BYU wanted someone to do...make movies that had strong morals, great scripts and outstanding acting. Movies that told the...

Really good history of Motion Picture Studio @ BYU
I was so happy to see a documentary on the Motion Picture Studio at BYU. I worked there for three years in the late 1970's and I loved it. It was nice to see people I used to work with. The movie was very well done and a great tribute to Judge and Scott Whitaker. Thanks -

Legendary Amazons

A good remake of a Shaw Brothers classic
This is a very good remake of the Original made back during the dominant run Shaw Brothers had in the Martials Film making genre. This movie was produced by Jackie Chan and I must say that this is a epic big production, with no shortage of action sequences. It got to be a little long on the drama to the build up but over all a good movie. The main weapon of choice in this film is the sabre and the choreagraph is well done.

Pretty fighting ladies take names!
Very good I love fighting ladies and its much better than some reviews. It almost looks epic and does not look cheap really like the girls amour weapons and fighting!Good tranfer and story along with fast shipping!

Just awful
Don't buy this DVD. It's just awful and isn't worth your money. The acting is poor and the script is sometimes hard to follow. On the lighter side, the scenery is interesting and the costumes are pretty. The ladies seem to know martial arts, though they do have that fly-through-the-air thing going on even though they don't do it very well.

Slender Thread [Blu-ray]

Bancroft & Poitier at their best - a Classic!
Was fortunate enough to come across The Slender Thread on a cable movie channel several years ago. This film is Anne Brancroft & Sidney Poitier are at their best - extrodinary performances! Poitier plays a Seattle college student volunteering at a crisis center. One night when he's at the clinic alone, a woman (Bancroft) calls needing to talk saying she's taken pills. While Poitier tries to get help for her, he keeps her ton the line while he learns about her life, family, and why she wants to die. With a brillant script by legendary writer Stirling Silliphant, direction by Sydney Pollack, and original music by Quincy Jones; The Slender Thread engrosses the viewer from the start. We're drawn into the building suspense, caring about the people, concerned for the outcome. This dramatic character study is enhanced all the more by being in black & white. Plus, it features a fine supporting cast including Telly Savalas, Ed Asner, and Dabney Coleman. The Slender Thread is a great example of...

EXCELLENT MOVIE
A SLENDER THREAD is a super movie to watch alone. Not a lot of action - just intense drama. Have watched it many times.911 operators would like this movie. It shows a crisis line in action.

Late b/w film that hits the bullseye....
Black and white was rare for a big budget film in 1965....sometimes done for effect (Psycho, The Hustler) or just a lack of funds (I believe color film at that time added about 25% to the budget).... This is a pretty good film either way.... Definitely talky, but it never seemed to get boring....pure drama....flashbacks fill in the blanks.... Poitier is fantastic as usual....very interesting all around....just watching them try to trace a phone call draws you in to the story....good stuff....different to be sure....

The Puppet Master Collection

Puppet Master 9
There are five movies on one disk, four on the other. Hard to watch due to compression distortion. Not worth buying.

Ok, not great
The PPM series is of course great.
What's not so great is the transfer of PPM II, towards the end of the movie, the video starts beating
and flashing.Quite annoying. Very poor transfer.
Contacted Echo Bridge and got no response.
Will be looking to replace this with another distributors version very soon.

A little disappointing
I favor the puppet master films, though this collection I bought seems kind of faulty. My favorite is 'Toulon's Revenge', but for some reason it doesn't play good on here. You can't hear the dialogue. I was curious so I went through the other films on the first disc, and they seem fine. All but the one I wanted to see. :(
I went out and bought another copy of this collection, thinking maybe it was the disc I bought previously, but it turns out with the one I bought today has the same issue. :-/
I'm totally bummed out.

scenery
If you enjoy the scenery, scene after scene, after scene, after scene, after scene which never ever changes but you would expect - least of all dialogue changes! Only in your dreams whomever gave the ratings before me, must have been part of the cast or gofers, photographers, writers, directer, or producers. This MOVIE REALLY IS HORRIBLE and I would honestly pay someone to watch this movie in its entirety, BAD, BAD, BAD and terribly an insult to anyone who would watch it without stopping and the continuing.

I have never written a review for a movie before but..
This movie was AWFUL! The acting was just terrible and the plot was worse. It was actually painful to watch. I had to skip around just to find a part that was remotely watchable. Clearly, production wrote the other reviews. Don't be fooled.

The worst part is I PAID for this. I could have gotten something awesome, like ice cream with that $3.99.

Do yourself a favor and avoid.

Ummmm... No.
The only reason I am writing this review is because it's the only way I could rate it. I watched this on HuluPlus, and while this was an interesting idea in theory, the execution fell flat. Sorry friends of the film (film-maker), but this is not a five-star flick.

Sensored

brilliant fearsome psyche thriller
this is probably the most intelligent psyche thriller I've seen in years. Caught it at the sacramento film festival. Creates it's own sick and perverted world that
tests the viewer's own judgement and discernment. Either way it is demented beyond belief and very very creatively imagined and fleshed out.

Twists abound
I don't want to spoil the movie so I will keep this brief. I was nervous about renting as it has no trailer but I am so glad we did. This movie will have you guessing until the end. It is not something I have seen done before. Not so gruesome but very stimulating for the mind. My husband and I both enjoyed this film.

A Cult Classic in the Making
Sensored is a cult classic in the making. At times simple, at times complex; it will leave you guessing right up to the end. Unlike most movies in this genre, you can watch it several times and still be surprised at what you uncover - it is anything but formulaic. If you're looking for a movie that captivates you from the start and has you both amused and confused, this is your movie. You'll appreciate the complexity of the story and the fact that it's not just another "run-of-the-mill" pshyco-drama.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie!!!

Murders in the Rue Morgue

ATMOSPHERIC BUT FLAWED UNIVERSAL HORROR
As the story goes, Director Robert Florey was all set to direct Frankenstein. But James Whale who had directed the critically acclaimed films Journey's End and Waterloo was allowed to choose any film he wanted for his next project and he chose Frankenstein, leaving Florey the door prize of Murders in the Rue Morgue. It wasn't all a booby prize however. Florey got a solid cast with Lugosi playing the bushy-haired, uni-browed Dr. Mirakle and Leon Ames playing medical student Pierre Dupin. Ames was a credible actor who made over 100 films and worked in TV including a three year stint on "Mr. Ed." Also in the cast was a young Arlene Francis who plays one of Mirakles early, tortured victims.

Set in Paris of the 1800's, The plot surrounds the Crazy Mirakle's plan to inject females with the blood of a gorilla to prove his theory that man evolved from the ape. While never specifically mentioned, he needs the subject to be a virgin. After one female doesn't work out Mirakle...

A Classic of the Genre
Showing a strong hommage to the silent "Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" and strangely anticipating "King Kong" in certain sequences, "Murders in the Rue Morgue" is an atmospheric thriller which remains surprisingly gruesome some sixty years after it was made. At the time of its release, the film was considered so grotesque that it ran into considerable censorship trouble in Europe, particularly in England. A very tight running running time (just over an hour) keeps the action flowing, and the laboratory scenes are particularly shuddery. A classic of the genre.

Dr. Mirakle's Monkey
In comparison to such Universal Poe "adaptations" as The Black Cat or The Raven, Murders in the Rue Morgue is almost faithful to the original-almost! Poe used the story as a showcase to introduce C. Auguste Dupin, the first literary detective, to the public. A financially independent recluse and spiritual kinsman of Roderick Usher, Dupin, who solves crimes for his own disinterested ratiocinative pleasure, is called in by the Parisian police whenever it runs up against a brick wall in its investigations. In this case, a woman and her daughter have been brutally murdered under suspicious circumstances, and Dupin is able to show-to the consternation of the authorities-that the culprit was a runaway orangutan belonging to a sailor, and not a human agent.
The studio eliminated Dupin as a character altogether, but retained the Parisian setting, placing the story in the 1840s, as well as the idea of a woman who has been mysteriously killed by an unknown assailant. However, into the...

The Fighting Texans

Great Western
If you love old Westerns, and I have been on a Rex Bell kick recently... this is a great film. Don't expect major studio production quality. This kind of independent studio created Westerns in the 1930s as if they were shot in someone's back yard. But they are fun and Rex Bell is a great actor -- not the caliber of John Wayne, but an enjoyable Western nonetheless.

The Harvest

70's Baby....Yea!
If you like old gritty 70's exploitation films then keep that in mind when watching The Harvest! I really liked the fill and look of this film, if anything I would make it more gritty looking to go along with the 70's exploitation style. Really enjoyed this film and recommend it!

I have no idea what these other reviews are talking about.
This movie is extremely low-budget, it looks like it was shot on someone's phone or something. But I can get over that as long as the rest of the movie is good. Needless to say it isn't. One thing people keep saying in their reviews is that the acting was good, which is the thing I have the most of a problem with about this film. Nobody shows any emotion and the dialouge seems so fake and forced. Which brings me to my next point, the sound when they talk. You can barely hear any of the conversations because they all sound like they are far away, or in a large echo-ey room. And in addition to that, when they talk, and all the other noises switch from right speaker, to left speaker, to both speakers, and just back and forth between them all. Everything about this movie as far as hearing goes, dialouge, conversations, noise, talking, ect. it all is just a huge mess.

The story itself I don't have much of a problem with. But it just kinda leaves me asking "Why?". Like what is...

Awesome!
I really enjoyed this movie as much as I enjoyed the others! GREAT job!! They just keep getting better and better.

The Raven

If a man looks ugly he does ugly things!
So utters poor Boris Karloff just before he becomes disfigured in a deliberately botched operation by the one and only mad doctor Bela Lugosi. "The Raven" is a famous title for a not so famous classic horror film teaming of two of the greats, Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff. It has used the title of a poem by Edgar Allan Poe but there the resemblance ends and what we have is a very chilly tale about a Mad doctor , Dr. Richard Vollin who has an obssession with the writings of Poe and who in his spare time recreates the torture instruments employed in some of his short stories and poems such as "The Pit and the Pendulum". The role of the mad doctor is a field day for Bela Lugosi who has rarely had such a showy part as this after his famous role as Dracula.

The film literally reeks with creepy goings on and Boris Karloff once agin proves his worth as an actor in the role of Edmond Bateman a bearded fugitive newly escaped from San Quentin who comes to Dr. Vollin's in the hope of getting...

A Classic Shocker
Many horror films tend to loose steam over the years--but not The Raven, which in spite of changing styles and tastes retains considerable "squirm" effect. The story, which concerns a doctor who goes mad and determines to kill off his imagined enemies according to various devices found in Poe's works, is more than a little farfetched, but Bela Lugosi and company play out the plot with considerable conviction, while classic Universal Horror cinematography lends considerable atmosphere to the tale. Ultimately, however, it is the scenes in which Lugosi prepares to torture and kill his victims that remain in the memory--and very disturbingly so. One of the best examples of 1930s horror.

Bela at his best..without a shadow of a doubt!
'The Raven'...along with 'Son of Frankenstein'....are Lugosi's two best films....by far in my opinion! We need to forget literary allusion here. We also need to overlook other cinematic criteria such as...other members of cast, production values, makeup...even dare I say it? Plot. The film refers and alludes to Poe...(ie. the torture chamber, the talismanic stuffed crow, the 'Lenore' stuff and also perhaps even a very subtle reference to Poe's own personal demons)....invoked in the Vollin character? Who knows?. For me the 'Black Cat' simply left me cold....too wordy, and nowadays feeble as horror. Its biggest letdown was not featuring Lugosi's talents. Karloff is technically a masterful actor...but he simply does NOT exude menace! Thus any film which gives Karloff the beefier part is doomed to fail. I actually fell asleep during the Black Cat. 'The Raven' is...by the country mile....a much superior vehicle for both Bela and Boris. We have here the perfect blend of both...

Texas Rangers Ride Again

"Texas Rangers Ride Again (1940) ~ Drew/Howard/Tamiroff/Crawford/Quinn ~ James P. Hogan (Director) (1995)"
Paramount Pictures presents "TEXAS RANGERS RIDE AGAIN" (1940) ~ (68 min/B&W) -- Starring: Ellen Drew, John Howard, Akim Tamiroff, Broderick Crawford, May Robson & Anthony Quinn

Directed by James P. Hogan

Old Mrs. Dangerfield (May Robson) is experiencing a rash of cattle rustling at her White Sage ranch and, fed up with her no-good grandson Carter's handling of the emergency, she contacts an old beau, Ranger Captain Ben Cadwallader of the Texas Rangers. Cadwallader assigns young Ranger Jim Kingston (John Howard) to infiltrate the gang. Kingston masquerades as The Pecos Kid on the lam. Filmed on location at Mesa, Arizona.

Although not a direct sequel, this well-apportioned B-Western from Paramount was produced to capitalize on the popularity of the studio's The Texas Rangers (1936). Unlike the earlier film, this one is set in the (then) modern times of the late 1930s - so we get cars and planes here and the Rangers often drive into the wild with their...

HAS ABOVE NORMAL PRODUCTION VALUES FOR A "B" WESTERN.
To its credit, Paramount Pictures has rarely stinted on funding for its lower tier films as evidenced with this work that is meant to profit from the popularity of the 1936 MacMurray/Oakie picture TEXAS RANGERS, of which this is not a sequel. Far from having a conventional Western setting, the plot here is contemporaneous with the time of the film's release, with cattle rustlers employing motor vehicles and wireless communication, as do the Rangers who also trailer their mounts to their patrol sectors. By utilizing some of its better contract players as well as a raft of supporting actors whose home studio is Paramount, a product is developed that is fairly well balanced between the common cinematic classifications of romance, comedy and adventure. As Ellen Dangerfield (Ellen Drew) arrives at the enormous White Sage Ranch in Texas after being ten years away on the east coast, her grandmother's spread is being rustled of thousands of cattle, causing the elderly lady (May Robson) to...

Female Vampire (with Erotikill): Remastered Edition

Wow
That Jess Franco sure was wacky. This ultra-sexy 70's vamp flick probably arouses me more than any modern softcore film, but it's still not as good as Vampire Femmes or Vampyres. The woman here isn't really a vampire in the monster sense of the word. She's more of an energy sucker, kills by sucking sexual energy from her victims. The bad acting will get on some's nerves, and the plot is ludicrous, but if you buy this film to begin with, you can't expect Citizen Kane. A good b-movie sexfest.

Moody Ethereal Horror From Franco
The new IMAGE DVD of Jess Franco's "Female Vampire" is a welcome addition to any Francophile or euro-horror fan's collection. The movie reeks with an ethereal mood and pace and the euro-lounge theme music (played through about 90% of the flick!) is catchy and will haunt you long afterwards. Irina the lonely vampire goes from one victim to the next --- that's about it for story --- but who cares! This is Franco at his best! Be forewarned --- this is definitely a Very Mature movie so keep the young ones away! Released in a few different versions over the years, this 101 minute version is closest to "The Loves of Irina" version once released on VHS by Private Screenings. Alternate scenes from the "Erotikill" version are included as a supplement (app. 8 minutes) and basically include all the attack scenes which show Irina drinking blood. For some reason, the alternate scenes are not in chronological order. The movie is letterboxed at...

BAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF!
It never fails that every time I experience this film, and I've seen it now about three times in the past year, it produces a vastly different reaction each time I view it. I bounce from absolute admiration for Franco's directorial style, dreamy camerawork and musical score, and committed performances from the cast, to thinking that this is nothing but a cheap, porno-wanna-be-flick with absolutely nothing to do with "vampires", and no artistic integrity whatsoever. Fortunately, the positive vibes win out over the negative and I, once again, admire this film and all that is right and wrong with it. If I fail to make sense, well good then, because neither does this flick. Ms. Romay is, to say the least, totally uninhibited as she romps about the beautifully filmed outdoor scenes while a Chopin-like score lusciously underscores her every movement. Her scenes with the bed posts are, er...., quite a moment in the Euro-Erotic field, and the way she swishes and moves about on her bed...

Three Secrets [Blu-ray]

Superior Melodrama
An interesting tale and an early directorial effort from Robert Wise. When a young boy is the sole survivor of a mountain plane crash, three women begin to wonder if he's the child each gave up for adoption. While waiting for the news, the women all look back on their lives. We discover the reasons behind their decisions to give their sons up, and what their lives have been like up to this point. This is similar in some ways to the plot device used in A Letter to Three Wives, which also deals with the pasts of three women, however this film is much more somber in tone. It doesn't have the crackling, witty dialogue, which made Wives so memorable. The suspense is quite good, with all three stars doing excellent work here. It's fun seeing Eleanor Parker, Patricia Neal, and Ruth Roman all of whom would go on to be major stars during the 1950s; it's a wonderful showcase for their dramatic talents. If you like films with good character studies, Three Secrets is for you.

Secrets revealed
I have always liked this movie and have been looking for it a couple of years; glad it has finally been released. It has been under the radar, but I think deserves more notice than it has received. The three women are each afraid to have their "secret" revealed. Eleanor Parker had a boyfriend in the Army (I believe played by Arthur Franz) who goes away and, presumably, gets killed. Ruth Roman and Patricia Neal each have equally sad stories revolving around their "secrets." Patricia Neal is a well-renowned reporter who travels to the mountaintop to cover the story. All the reportors hole up in a closed-for-the-season resort, and that is where the movie action takes place, in flashbacks. In one scene in the movie, two of the mothers-to-be actually share the same doctor's waiting room. Of course, they don't know each other. This is a good little movie with a good big cast. By the way, I liked Ruth Roman's story the best.

A Woman"s Baby is trapped aboard a plane that may crash! 3 mothers show up at the site? Whose baby is it & who'll reclaim it?
Ruth Roman, Patricia Neal and Eleanor Parker give sterling performances in this Warner Bros. noir whose ending will surprise you! Yes, it may be more of a woman's noir film, not as thrilling as MILDRED PIERCE, but emotionally moving just the same. See it!

Come To The Stable

Beautiful depiction of a Nun's faith and inner soul
Loretta Young, one of Hollywood's most respected actresses had one of her greatest roles as the assured and determined Sister Margaret in Twentieth Century Fox's 1949 "Come to the Stable" a beautiful story of two women's determination and sheer belief in the rightness of what they are seeking in their work for others. Loretta Young, a staunch catholic in real life is one of those rare actresses in a league with the likes of Ingrid Bergman, Deborah Kerr and Audrey Hepburn , that seem totally convincing as nuns whether it be in their displays of humility in portraying their characters or just by the total immersion that they undergo when taking on the nun role.

"Come to the Stable" tells a very simple but extremely moving story based on a short story by Clare Booth Luce, of the journey that two nuns, one American and one french, make to fulfill a solemn vow made during World War 2. Resulting from the fact that through prayer to St. Jude, the Patron Saint of lost...

Back To The "Good Old Days"
In the late 1940's and into the 50's, there was a decency and innocence which existed that has all but disappeared today. This movie is a simple, wonderful story about innocence and blind faith, played beautifully by Loretta Young and Celeste Holm in the form of 2 French nuns. Using their charisma, they manage to get a children's hospital built in an affluent area, in which the people eventually are won over by these charming nuns. It is a "feel good" movie of the first magnitude, and, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful films ever made.

Can Amazon help us get a DVD copy of Come to the Stable?
This is another great movie by both Loretta Young and Celeste Holm. I have noticed a number of other Loretta Young movies, some I've not even heard of, available on DVD. THIS one SHOULD be out on DVD and it's not. Based on the reviews here, there is obvious love for this movie, and there should be. It's funny, great and heartwarming. I'll bet if Amazon started collecting email addresses from those of us interested in getting a DVD copy and let the owners of the movie know how much interest there is, they would eventually do it ! Please, all those who want a DVD copy to preserve this movie in your home libraries, let Amazon know!!!

Growing older fredding develops a fixation on killing anyone that gets in his way. Unfortunately 6 teenagers are going on a weekend trip to the woods and freddie goes after then with his axe. i found this film just like the friday the 13th films and freddie has been replaced by jason. the same storyline with cute horny attractive teenagers who want nothing but parting, booze and sex. one of the girls survives and and endures an extreme means of survival. i always like movies like this where guys and gals watching the film yell and scream at the actors and actresses. it is a good horror film when the film watchers debate and reason what they would do being thrown in the same set of survivor circumstances. overall this is a great film.. great scenery, excellent soundtrack, fantastic acting and great editing.

Happy feet 1 & 2 Blu-ray

dont understand other reviews
The other reviews were so odd on this that I was a little worried about buying this even though it seemed like a straightforward purchase. In any case...the movie is NOT in Italian. It is just a regular blu ray. And the other review should probably be deleted...

This item is exactly what it is advertised to be. Happy feet one and two on blu ray. Great movies.

My son loves this Happy Feet series - glad to find it in a two-disc combination
It was nice to purchase a double blue-ray package of these movies. My son loves the Happy Feet series, so it was very nice to find this two pack in blue-ray format for so cheap on Amazon.

The movies/disc includes special features like music videos, dance-alongs, and some other additional features/bonus stuff.

awesome movie
got this movie for my baby girl she loves it, also glad it comes in two separate disks instead of both movies in the same one

Robot Wars

First There Was ROBOT JOX...and then came ROBOT WARS!
Metal against metal. Blow upon blow. Powerful arms reach out to grab and choke, electrifying lasers light up the sky as they ricochet off solid plates of steel.
The ultimate battle between metallic giants begins when a malicious foreign dignitary hijacks the last mega-robot on Earth, the MRAS-2, and threatens to unleash its crushing powers against the people of the Eastern Alliance. There's only one force magnificent enough to stop the MRAS-2, a MEGA-1 robot hidden under the city. It's up to renegade pilot (Don Michael Paul), his engineer (James Staley) and a brilliant archaeologist (Barbara Crampton) to revive the MEGA-1 and re-establish world peace.
Will the MEGA-1 be able to survive the onslaught of the new robot and its superior technology? A phenomenal battle lies ahead...

Robot Wars
The future is run by greedy corporations who control the last remaining resources on Earth using giant mechanical defenders known as the Megarobots. When one of the devices is stolen, the Eastern Alliance must seek the help of their rogue pilots in order to locate and return the missing machine. ROBOT WARS is an unofficial sequel to Stuart Gordon's futuristic adventure ROBOT JOX, directed by famed B-movie producer Albert Band (father to Charles). It employs many of the same second-hand sets and miniatures that had been used in both ROBOT JOX and another spin-off, CRASH AND BURN. As is the case with many of the films he worked on, Dave Allen's impressive stop-motion animation and special effects take the center stage in this otherwise average Sci-Fi adventure. Barbara Crampton, Don Michael Paul, and Danny Kamekona turn out a few entertaining moments as well, but the plot often feels like an afterthought while the film prepares for the final battle between the two metal beasts. Still,...

Haha
Such a crappy old movie, I had to buy it! Has nothing to do with "Robot Jox", crappy "special effects" and acting. Its one of those "I saw this movie, and it was worse than the movie you are complaining about" movies! I wish they had it on DVD though, that would have been even better!

Buy it! I think I paid next to nothing on it and when people look at your movie collection they go "what the heck is this?!?"

Chely Wright: Wish Me Away

Important for Hearts, Minds, Our Culture
I just watched this documentary that chronicles country singer Chely Wright's painful journey toward coming out. This is simply a wonderful documentary that I believe should be seen by teachers, by parents, especially by kids who might be just like Ms. Wright, as she tells what it was like for her as a child growing up in a small Kansas town, who went on to achieve her dream of becoming a singer and songwriter in the country music industry with great success, winning awards, having hit records.

It was a long and painful process for Ms. Wright, a well-known and loved star in country music, to decide to come out as gay, and this film follows her process so closely and intimately that it puts you right there in those most intimate moments, with the doubts, fears, sleepless nights, tears, and also shows her receiving help, counseling, and support as she writes her autobiography and records an album, both timed to be released when she makes her public announcement in May of...

Definitely a Must See
I watched this as a woman who went through some of the same struggles. I'm from a small town in Oklahoma, and I struggled with my own identity and a desire to be "normal". I felt like I was watching my own life. I ended up feeling happier and more inspired. I think this documentary should be seen by everyone. I think more people would be more accepting and loving if they understood that being gay is not a choice. I also think it will help others who may be struggling with their own identities. Such an inspiring story. I finally felt ok with my decision to come out, at home and at work. I finally quit hiding things. If others can talk about their spouses or partners at work, why can't I?

Bravo!
This film was incredible. I was in tears more than once. She tells her story... a story that needed to be told. Both for her, and the country music world, and beyond. I purchased her latest album right after it came out and I listened to it from beginning to end and was moved beyond words. This film, her story, is exactly what people need to experience. It takes seeing the pain, the heartache, the loss, and the fear, in a real person to realize that the culture of our society needs to change. Chely is a REAL person and her story, as well as her passion and the direction she is taking her life, is to be commended. Each step she takes, in her music, her book, as well as this film, WILL make a difference.

Chely has done and has the ability to do what I would like to do, but don't have the fame, the reach, or the presence that she does. The message she has to share is immensely important.

Bravo Chely. Bravo.

"Witchcraft! Witchcraft!! Yaaaagh!!!"...
THE YESTERDAY MACHINE is about a search for a missing girl that takes a turn into twilight zone territory. It seems that those old rascals, the Nazis, have designed a time machine, and are causing havoc. Now, time-lines are colliding! We are introduced to the insane scientist / builder of the machine, who explains Hitler's ultimate plan for world domination! Lots and lots of windy dialogue, and very little action. However, the opening scene has a cute majorette, complete w/ twirling baton! She performs to a goofy rock-n-roll song, and is a wonder to behold! As an added bonus, the scientist gives us a snappy physics lesson...

Gunfight at Red Sands

Great Western, Great Transfer
After several tries of getting this fantastic Richard Harrison western from 1963, the true masterplan for the "spaghetti Western," I wanted to report that the copy from Sinister Cinema is the best out there currently. It is clear, crisp, colorful and with no interruptions, blurry image or audio distortion. They have done well. The song "A Gringo Like Me" (sung by Dicky Jones) by Ennio Morricone (music is credited to Dan Savio) is a first for him, I believe, as I understand it. Director Richard Blasco and the director of photography, Jack Dalmas in Technicolor, although Sinister Cinema's print, too, is dubbed in English, the writing of this story is truly great. How truly historic this effort is is that it is over-shadowed by the Sergio Leone films which take claim to originating a genre that they popularized. For many off these of what has become known as "European Trash Cinema," at the very beginning, many actors and crew Americanized their names for the credits and are now...

EL GRINGO!
American muscleman Richard Harrison stars as El Gringo in Ricardo Blasco's pre-Leone Spaghetti Western GUNFIGHT AT RED SANDS(1963). It's the revenge theme as Gringo (a white man raised in a Mexican family) returns from fighting for independence in Mexico to his Mexican family living in an American border town. The town is rife with racism and upon Gringo's return his Mexican "father" is murdered for his gold and Gringo then finds himself set-up for murder as he goes after the three men responsible, who are trying to blame it all on Mexicans in general. Gringo teams up with his Mexican brother and sister, whom he's in love with (he's adopted, remember) and the three of them face down the badguy white guys in the final shootout.

This is a very interesting movie. Being pre-Leone/FISTFUL OF DOLLARS it's more in tune with looking like an American/Hollywood knockoff, yet it still reflects European sensibilities, mood and style and has a catchy score by Ennio Morricone. It's...

[Sheep crop the grass down to the roots leaving nothing to cattle.] Gilbert Ware is appointed guardian of the estate of Samuel Halston after he is committed to the asylum. Brent Halston, the son of Sam, returns to the county. One man keeps winning at a card game. Brent shows his skills at the tavern. Horses and cows won't drink from a place where sheep were. End of the World 2012 Movie

The Definitive Word on the 2012 Mysteries
When I was interviewed for this DVD, filmmaker Carol Chapman shared her intent with me to have comprehensive and up-to-date information surrounding the mystery of 2012. It wasn't until I recently viewed the final version of End of the World 2012 Movie did I realize how thoroughly Chapman covered one of her favorite topics.

There are so many expectations and speculations surrounding the December 21, 2012 date that it is both tedious and time consuming to dig through all that's been written or filmed about it. I found this DVD to be invaluable in that it cut through all the scientific jargon and set aside rumors and mysterious connotations surrounding the famous date to present not only what is real but also fundamentally true.

What makes this educational DVD a joy to watch is that truths are explored through a travel log sequence which keeps the viewer's interest from start to finish. As explanations are dispersed through interesting and a wide variety of...

End of the World 2012 sets it straight !
This is a true accounting of an ancient mystery as revealed by Maya elders and scholars who have shared their knowledge as revealed in this most interesting and informative movie filmed on location in the beautiful Yucatan Peninsula.
Be better informed than the billions worldwide who have clicked internet searches in quest of more information about the end of the world in 2012 only to be possibly mislead. Will the conclusion turn out to have been a misinterpretation of Mayan glyphs cast long ago or will we all get reincarnated en masse on December twenty first? The Mayan calender is good for several millenia or precisely 5125 years. Repeat that number 5 times, usually referred to as the "precession of the equinoxes" which corresponds to the time interval for a complete cycle of our earth's orientation with regard to the north star, Polaris. Not by any mere coincidence, the Maya ancients accurately accounted for the actual astronomical data with the Mayan calendar. See evidence in...

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
The GOOD news is that there is a DVD available to the public of a silent film with Betty Blythe. As a matter of fact, the only one. Gained star points here. I wish someone would find and restore the silent film "The Queen of Sheba" and any other silent movies with Betty.

The BAD news is that this movie is not restored/remastered. It is a copy of a defective film (VHS?) that has been re-taped together. This DVD by Sinister Cinema, seems like some high school kids put it together for a project. The main menu screen is totally amateur in presentation. Lost star points here. Where are KINO and CRITERION when you need them?

The UGLY is the soundtrack! Though it is a "silent", it does have an orchestra background sound. Sometimes it is too fast paced to properly fit the scene. Sometimes too dramatic for the mood. Sometimes the sound is totally gone! Lost star points here. Where is UCLA when you need them?

This movie was filmed before the CODE was written in...

Excellent Cinematization
I love the novel "She." Of all of the film versions that I have watched, this one most closely mirrors the original book.

She, 1925
This edition, by Sinister Cinema, isn't as unwatchable as some of the other reviews indicate. It's not a high quality, recently digitally restored film, like some of the old silents, but it's plenty watchable.

The acting and direction are pretty good through out. The film is much truer to H. Rider Haggard's novel that some other film versions of the book. I'm a fan of adventure movies, and I liked this one.

Delinquent

A great flick!
An interesting/unexpected film by Peter Christian Hall. I am a big fan of his book: American Fever: A Tale of Romance & Pestilence. (available at amazon.com)

Delinquent offers a sophisticated, fantasy dream sequence to the viewer, that is...sexually alluring! Great writing, filming & tight editing. The film ends in a twisty, unpredictable way. Thumbs up!

Sometimes it pays to be curious!!
Having read "American Fever" by Peter Christian Hall just made me curious to see if the movie he made before that, was as good as the book. It was! I really didn't know what to expect. It was about a teenage boy with a tyrant of a father and how he deals with life. I really don't like to give plots away; when I watch a movie I prefer to know nothing about the film. I want to be surprised. I just want to say that it is very, very good. I was touched. I cried. This is a film for both men and women. Like books, I want depth and something to think about afterwards. This move has both. I will definitely watch it again.

Little known gem!
Just caught up with this film after 'meeting' director/writer/producer Peter Christian Hall online through mutual friends. Peter is best known as a freelance writer based in New York who has written articles for the likes of Rolling Stone, the Village Voice and the New York Times, but here he shows a visual eye as well. The story features 15-year-old Tim whose mother killed herself and left her body for him to find, and whose father is a policeman in small-town New York where they have recently moved. Tim's father is also abusive and part of Tim's way of coping is through a fantasy life. Soon fantasy and reality merge, as Tim tries to deal with his situation. But it's not your typical coming-of-age movie. The story is told through interesting shots, dreams and fantasy sequences. And the direction is in very capable hands, especially for a first-time director who shows he knows a little something about making a film. The acting is more than adequate for a film shot on such a...

16 Fathoms Deep

Lon Chaney Jr. As A Heroic Sponge Fisherman
There are two versions of "16 Fathoms Deep", one was released in 1934 and the other in 1948. Both use Lon Chaney Jr., but in different roles.

The Sinister Cinema edition, pictured here with the artwork of a shark attacking a helmeted deep-sea diver, is the Monogram Pictures 1934 edition. Lon Chaney Jr., calling himself Creighton Chaney, portrays Joe Bethel, a good-hearted sponge fisherman who needs to make some money so he can marry girlfriend Rosita (Sally O'Neil). Joe Bethel can borrow money only from treacherous financier Theo Savanis (George Regas), who wants Rosita for himself. When the boat goes out for sponges, the crew is stymied by breakdowns and sabotage. Will Joe be able to gather up enough sponges, get back in time for the auction, and get to marry Rosita?

The film is in black & white. The picture has not been cleaned-up, Criterion style. Although one might see a brief gap or two and some artifacts, the picture is good enough. Having just...

Color of Night / Playing God (Double Feature) [Blu-ray]

Blu Ray is Directors Cut
I haven't watched Playing God, but I did watch, The Color of Night. I owned the previous Directors Cut, and it appears to have the same content. This is the extended version. A previous reviewer stated that on cable showings, there is more to be seen. Since, I've never seen it on cable, I cannot comment on that, but if you are looking for the previously released Director's Cut, it's here. The video content is improved over the DVD. It's a pretty clean print and I did not find anything wrong with the video. It's not as pristine as a newer release, it looks more like an upconverted DVD, but I'm sure it's the best it's ever looked. Audio was average...nothing to write home about.

For the price you really can't go wrong. If you are on the fence, I'd say go ahead and buy.

Good film bad film crime thriller lineup
Hey, for $6.99 or less, what can you lose? Well, $6.99 to start with and four hours of your time, but honestly it is worth $6.99 or less, nothing more. Both movies are loaded on one side of one disc.

The Color of Night is a sexy and twist-filled noir-like who-done-it that will keep you watching. The acting is fair at best, with the exception of Jane March who steps it up a notch. The video transfer varies noticeably during the film but never gets unwatchable, just grainy at times like you see in the first scenes. For most of the film though the transfer is sharp digital that never quite rises to Blu-ray perfection. I enjoy the movie though and will probably watch it once a year or so.

Playing God? Wow, what can I say. On the positive side the transfer is significantly better than Color of Night. Unfortunately the movie is so bad it is actually fun to watch......once. The plot kind of works, but the acting, action, scene detail, and soundtrack...

Great movie
Color of Night: A very intriguing tale involving multiple personalities, a stressed out therapist, an interesting group of patients, murder and great sexual scenes. This was one of my favorite movies when it came out, and now, in blu ray, it is even better.

Playing God: A twisted tale of arrogance gone wrong. A doctor, hooked on himself and drugs, falls low enough to get involved with some real bad characters. A good movie all in all.

This double feature rocks!

Micki & Maude/Hanky Panky/Theres a Girl In My Soup/Modern Romance
These flicks were so cute funny and totally entertaining. I had seen all of these many years ago. Loved them then and love them even more now. Kick back and enjoy.

4 Great Films in a 2 - DVD Set. Excellent Quality!
I ordered this 2-DVD set because I've been looking for the movie, "There's A Girl In My Soup" for several years & have never been able to find it. Peter Sellers and Goldie Hawn make for an excellent comedy team. I used to really enjoy watching the film when it ran on TV, many, many years ago. When I learned it was getting a new DVD release I was really happy. As a bonus, I like the other movies in this set also. Modern Romance starring Albert Brooks is a real gem, plus Dudley Moore, Gene Wilder, & Gilda Radner. Wow! Excellent choice! This DVD from Mill Creek offers 4 films from The Columbia Pictures vaults, presented in widescreen, and the image quality is excellent. I ordered this not knowing what to expect...It's all good!

Great Quality and Deal
I don't know how many people are still trying to replace there old VHS tapes with DVD/Blue Ray but I am and boy o boy that can be costly! So, when I see a DVD/Blue Ray that has more than one movie on them I'm always happy especially with the deal I received on this DVD. Now, I didn't buy my copy of this DVD from Amazon but I did just buy it from Family Dollar for $5.00 dollars and I was more than pleased with my copy. The disc has two movies on each Micki and Maude/Hanky Panky then the other one is There's a Girl in My Soup/Modern Romance!

I just took a chance on this disc and I didn't expect much in the terms of quality but I was pleasantly surprised to update my old VHS movies with this DVD!

Midnight F.M.

Dark and Brooding Korean Drama
Soo Ae still has good acting chops, but the material, as some other Korean dramas, is dark , cruel, and anti-social. Is this the image of Seoul after dark? Moody, atmospheric, well made, but sooo dark. You cheer when the psycho get his, if only to end the movie sooner. Seeing children deal with killings and a psychopath makes this a like, not love movie.

Not Impressed
I would first off like to state that I am a huge fan of films from South Korea. I've enjoyed A Bittersweet Life, A Tale of Two Sisters, JSA, Oldboy, Shiri, Lady Vengeance, I Saw the Devil, Sympathy for Mister Vengeance, I'm a Cyborg, The Host, Memories of Murder, Mother, Chaser, Thirst, The Good The Bad The Weird, and numerous others. However, I did not like this movie. The one five star review that was on here at the time of this writing made me think that it was going to be a truly great film. I was less than pleased. I believe I should point out any positive traits first and then move on to the negative. Yu Ji-tae is amazing. He's really intimidating in this film. If there is one reason to watch this film, it's for his performance. That's it.

Now on to the negative bits. There are two things about this film that every time I've watched it bother the crap out of me. I would like to state that I've watched it in full once and half way through on three separate occasions, I...

My Favorite Korean Thriller In Recent Years
There have been a handful of South Korean thrillers that have earned a bit of hype over the past few years: "The Chaser" (2008) and "I Saw the Devil" (2010) being the two obvious choices, though "Mother" (2009) could also be considered if one classifies it as a dramatic thriller. I recently posted an IMDb user comment on "No Mercy" (2010), which I personally enjoyed more than the aforementioned films in terms of pure entertainment value. However, "Midnight F.M." (2010) has now ascended to my top spot.

Here's a reworded plot summary from AsianMediaWiki: Popular TV anchorwoman & late night radio host Sun-Young (Soo Ae: "Sunny" 2008, "Once in a Summer" 2006) prepares to work her final radio program, after which she will prepare to take her daughter to America the following morning. During the radio show Sun-Young receives a startling text message from a man named Dong-Su (Yoo Ji-Tae: "Oldboy" 2003, "One Fine Spring Day" 2001), who has broken into her apartment and taken...

The Selling

The kind of film Hollywood should strive for
It's hard to decide what genre The Selling falls into- there are elements of comedy, horror, sci-fi, and drama... but by the time the opening credits have finished, you know you are in for a great ride.

With humble nods to films such as The Amityville Horror, The Shining, and Poltergeist, there are very real moments of suspense and tension. Yet given the comedic roots of the cast and crew, it's no surprise that the audience burst into laughter throughout the film. A healthy mix of improbable situations, physical gags, and one-liners keep the film feeling snappy and smart. Personally, I found the "Sizzler" bit and actor Cole Stratton's exhaustive America's Next Top Model monologue (which was entirely improvised, taking full advantage of Stratton's talent and improv background) to be among the funniest scenes.

Simply put, the cast is superb. Writer/actor Gabe Diani handles the complex and nuanced role of Richard with ease. He reminds me of a young Tom Hanks:...

Outstanding!
I can't say how much I enjoyed this movie! I laughed out loud several times, jumped a few times too. The writing is smart and very well paced. I loved how the characters reacted to the insanity happening to them. I kept thinking this sounds like my firends and I if we were caught in a similar situation. This film is funny, smart, terriically shot and i am sooooooo glad I bought this film. Totally worth the dime and totally worth the time.

Have to say... this is really fun!
Watching an independent movie with no name-able stars during your precious down time sounds like a risky undertaking, I know. But seriously, this movie is surprising and delightful. It's full of good fun, spooks, entertainment, and great film making! It's suitable for your pre-teen to teen children to watch with you, too, so it's a very enjoyable family night, in my opinion. I don't even know how hard it is to get a movie like this made these days, and these folks have done it and they deserve all the lauds they can get! For Buffy and Star Trek fans, watch close and you'll be rewarded-- cameos abound! For everyone else, seriously, it's a really good time and well worth it.

Maleficarum (PAL)

The inquisition in South America
Highlighting the hypocrisy of some of the inquisitors and their quest for wealth and possibly their perverted enjoyment of the pain they inflicted in the pursuit of rooting out heresy....entertaining....for those voyeurs and sadists out there ms. Hesketh and her companion nicely display their naked bodies in chains and on the rack whilst emitting realistic groans and contorted features...it held my interest for the duration...more interesting in its depiction of South American life under the colonizing power...no complaints from me

enjoyable for those interested in the subject matter
Having read a translated copy of the Malleus Maleficarum, I found this to be the most accurate film about the trials of the inquisition. I feel it outdoes The Pit and the Pendulum as far as historical accuracy, but you can tell that the budget for this film was limited. Amy Hesketh's performance is the best of anyone in the film and you get to see alot of her...literally. I did notice that some of the effects were lacking a bit of polish that could cause them to pass as more realistic, but overall it was well done. I have heard some people complain about the length of some of the torture scenes and the burning scene, mainly that the scenes went longer with the screaming until it became uncomfortable/annoying; however I felt that this conveyed more of a sense of what it would have been like to witness it firsthand. Not the best movie ever made, but if you have an interest in the Spanish Inquisition you should give this a view.

Fantastic Job By Amy
This is a great film in it's genre. They definitely made an effort at historical realism tho on a limited budget. There is lots of nudity but no embarrassing genital focus. Amy has quite a bit of experience under the name Jane Von Detlefson and is excellent in the torture scenes. The other girl is a relative novice but serviceable. I must admit I'm partial to Amy and would not have bought the film if she were not in it. She is so effective in every torture scene. She is not beautiful but cute in a kind of sisterly way with a decent body. The roast her on a spit scene is a classic. She looks and acts scared and I guess to a certain point she really was. The burn at the stake scene is very well acted tho it's not staged really well but I guess they did what they could. Some have complained that some scenes are too long and that might be true but one can always fast forward. I didn't, I loved all the torture stuff. Guess if we want Amy we're stuck with Jac Avila for the duration. Maybe...

The Sinner

Packs a Punch
Although few people outside of Austin, Texas would recognize this cast of local celebrities, this is not a film to be overlooked. With a complex storyline, subtle spiritual themes, and a main character who is flawed yet somehow likable, this is a gem of film.

I Survived BTK (Special Edition)

A Survivor Seeks to Overcome the Tragic Event that's Defined Him
On January 15th, 1974 the town of Wichita, KS was turned upside down when four members of the Otero family were found brutally slain inside their humble home. This murder would be the first committed by Dennis Radar, whose twisted fantasies would claim six more victims over a span of seventeen years. The town of Wichita would come to remember the killer's sadistic calling card inscribed B.T.K. (for Bind, Torture, Kill), but what about the victims?

This film follows one of the survivors from that first crime, Charlie Otero, to see how his life was affected by that fateful day. We see how he relives that horrible moment, how he seeks to step out from the shadow cast by the monster, and other unfortunate events that plague his life.

It's refreshing to see one man's quest to overcome the event that's defined his life. We spend a lot of time with Charlie as he talks about his theories behind the case, his life after the event, how he gets by day to day, and how he...

What is the Effect of Murder?
Gritty, personal storytelling reveals the true cost of murder to individuals and families who survive. The film did not dwell on the horrific crimes, but rather the intimate stories of those left behind by the tragedies. A thought-provoking and unflinching portrayal which sidesteps the overhyped drama ubiquitous in the true crime genre.

chilling
No words to describe the horror. I am with the subject on this, there has to be more to the case than just one man. Especially at the start of the killings.
